Priya Narasimhan is a Professor of Electrical & Computer Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University, and has been at Carnegie Mellon since 2001. She has 100+ research publications in the fields of distributed systems, fault-tolerance, cloud computing, embedded systems, mobile systems, and sports technology. She is the Director of Carnegie Mellon’s AthleTech Lab, which is focused on using sensors, systems, machine-learning, and rigorous field testing to develop technologies to improve the training, performance, and recovery of athletes.
Priya Narasimhan is the CEO and Founder of YinzCam, Inc., a ten-year old company focused on mobile live streaming and scalable video technologies to provide the ultimate mobile fan experience to 180+ professional sports teams/venues around the world, including the NFL, NBA, LaLiga, XFL, NHL, NRL, CFL, AFL, and more. She is passionate about sports, technology, education and entrepreneurship. She is the mother of an awesome thirteen-year old boy, who is the love of her life. She is active on twitter and instagram.
Research awards. Her research has earned her a 2017 Heinz History Makers Award, an Alfred Sloan Fellowship, the 2009 Carnegie Science Center’s Emerging Female Scientist Award, an NSF CAREER Award, a Best Paper Award, the 2001 UCSB Lancaster Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation Award and two IBM Faculty Partnership Awards.
Entrepreneurship awards. Her entrepreneurship has earned her a 2012 International Bridge Award from Global Pittsburgh, and a 2011 ad:tech Innovation Award.
Teaching awards. Her teaching has earned her the 2014 Lutron Excellence in Teaching Award, the 2008 Eta Kappa Nu Excellence in Teaching Award (elected by students in the Carnegie Mellon Sigma Chapter), and the 2009 Benjamin Richard Teare Teaching Award (college-wide award) from Carnegie Mellon’s College of Engineering.
