Season-ticket members are the lifeblood of every team, and every team tries to offer additional perks to attract season-ticket holders, to retain them, and to reward them for their continued loyalty. Teams have typically offered season-ticket packages, including a number of tangible perks, such as exclusive access to the facilities (e.g., locker-room), sessions with players/coaches, pre-game/post-game sideline or bench passes, game-used equipment, and autographed merchandise. Other unique experiences include players delivering tickets to season-ticket holders’ homes (the Pittsburgh Penguins), season-ticket holders being invited to stand in the tunnel and high-five the players on their way to the ice (the Columbus Blue Jackets), season-ticket holders having the opportunity to paint/autograph the ice at the end of the season (the Minnesota Wild), etc.

Mobile Season-Ticket Member Hub. At YinzCam, we have been actively looking for ways to provide unique digital/mobile perks and experiences for their season-ticket members. In the 2014 season, we rolled out a new capability in the form of a special menu item that requires ticket-holders to log in (currently using native mobile authentication via Ticketmaster, but equally extensible to other ticketing systems as well). On providing their credentials to authenticate their season-ticket member status, users can unlock additional content within our team mobile apps.

This new capability has enabled our clients to provide a differentiated mobile/digital experience for season-ticket members. Our clients have worked hard to create a range of rich content–refreshed anew for every game–exclusively for season-ticket members to consume, at various points before/during/after the game, including:

  • Digital image of the game-coin, in advance of the game (Philadelphia Eagles)
  • Pre-game photo, half-time photo, post-game photo (Philadelphia Eagles)
  • Videos, e.g., the players in the tunnel before the game (Philadelphia Eagles)
  • Downloadable mobile wallpapers (New York Giants)
  • Ringtones with players’ voices (New York Giants)
  • Alarm-clock sounds with players’ voices (New York Giants)
  • Famous radio calls (New York Giants)
  • Game-day media guide with the stats deep-dive (New York Giants)
  • Contests for autographed merchandise
  • Special push-notifications category with alerts for content, news, etc.

We anticipate to launch more enhanced executions of this capability within all of our mobile apps in upcoming seasons, including the ability for season-ticket members to retrieve sideline/court passes and experiences prior to the game, to obtain special discounts at the team store, to obtain discounts at sponsor locations, to gain access to behind-the-scenes team content, and more. We also expect to personalize this mobile experience further to take into account the content-consumption patterns and preferences of ticket-holders.
